This article is comprehensive and extremely well written. It was published in a peer reviewed medical journal in the Spring of 2013. The authors review current studies, which provide moderate evidence that plant-based foods are effective for weight loss, improvement of type 2 diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease. A case study is presented on the remarkable improvement of a man with diabetes who was able to lose weight, and come off his insulin and high blood pressure medicines. There is also a nice summary that addresses the concerns that people may have about protein and vitamins, such as B-12, calcium, vitamin D, and fatty acids.
